ABOUT US

The Brown County Humane Society is a small county shelter with a big country heart.

The organization was founded in 1976. We are proud to have achieved no kill status in 2010.  Because of these efforts and the ongoing hard work of our staff, volunteers, and community we do not euthanize animals due to lack of space.

We’re proud of all that we have accomplished but we’re not stopping there! We are constantly striving to improve our services to the community, In 2017 we established the Small Animal Adoption Center to expand our services to felines. In 2019 we were able to complete significant renovations at the dog shelter including epoxy floors, a new meet and greet room, additional outdoor play yards and outdoor kennels. In 2022 we launched the Brown County SNAP (Spay and Neuter Assistance Program) program. SNAP issues vouchers for free or low cost spay and neuter services to qualified residents. Additionally, it will add services to the community such as a TNR (Trap Neuter Return) program to control the community cat overpopulation.
