Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Brown County Humane Society (BCHS)! BCHS is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and relies heavily on dedicated volunteers to help us provide animals with compassionate care, safety, socialization, and enrichment while in our care. Please complete this application entirely and drop off to one of our locations above, or email to manager@bchsohio.org.
If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the general release/waiver on last page of this application.
In order to volunteer in any BCHS program or activity, the following release must be signed.
I hereby apply to volunteer for the BCHS to work on activities designated by BCHS and/or Shelter staff. I UNDERSTAND THAT WORKING WITH ANIMALS CAN BE A HAZARDOUS ACTIVITY AND THAT I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THIS ACTIVITY WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE DANGERS INVOLVED. I recognize that I may be directly handling animals from or in the BCHS animal shelter and that animals by their nature are unpredictable and that contact with same can cause serious injury and death. As herein provided, I agree that BCHS is not liable for any accidents/injuries which occur during participation as a volunteer for BCHS. On behalf of myself, my children, my legal charges, personal representatives, and assignees, I hereby release and discharge BCHS, its Agents, Managers, Directors, Employees, and Assigns from any and all liability for any injury and/or property damage which may occur while participating as a volunteer. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless BCHS from any and all costs, damages, expenses or other amounts it may be caused to pay on account of any injury I might suffer. I waive these rights knowingly and voluntarily.
I hereby authorize BCHS to use any photographs of me in their possession for public relations purposes. BCHS will use reasonable efforts to give me advanced notice of such use, but notification is not a condition of this waiver.
I understand that ANY mistreatment of animals will result in criminal charges being filed.
Please Note: Dog Volunteers must attend a Volunteer Orientation at the Dog Shelter before participating in volunteer activities. For dog volunteers under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must attend the orientation as well as accompany the minor during any subsequent volunteer activity.
